National Pharmacy Cricket Carnivals 2010, 2011 & 2012

For the first time Western Australia won the final in Perth in January 2010 in a very close match v Victoria to become the National Champions for 2009 – 2010. The Carnival was played in glorious sunny days with the teams playing at great grounds. The 'Welcome' BBQ was held at the team's hotel overlooking the sunset across the ocean. The Trophy presentation Saturday night dinner with former WA and Test player John Inverarity as guest speaker was at the Claremont Yacht Club.

The Carnival moved to Shepparton for 2011 and the games were played at the Mooroopna Cricket Club nearby over the Goulburn River. The players enjoyed outstanding hospitality and generosity from the club members with two great grounds and warm sunny days. Great cricket from all the teams with South Australia winning the final v Victoria in a tight and keenly contested match. South Australia for the first time became the National Pharmacy Cricket Champions for 2010 - 2011

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland will be the venue for the 2012 Carnival. Games will be played the Maroochydore Cricket Club and the team will stay at the Manta Mooloolaba Beach. This Carnival could involve a team from Industry with CPD or CPE lectures given each morning at breakfast.

Applications were received from students at the various pharmacy schools in every State. The responses were of the highest order, which made the final selection difficult.

Daniel received his Certificate and cheque at a ceremony at CSU Orange and Jessica was presented with her Certificate and cheque at the APP conference.

Both received $2500 to assist with their studies and this is made possible by the sponsorship and support of the Pharmacy Cricket sponsors.

The April edition of the Australia Journey of Pharmacy carried a full page article reporting the responses given by these two outstanding students in their scholarship applications.
